Zoom Video Conferencing 2022 Review - businessnewsdaily.com

Thursday 13th January 4-5pm: Virtual session for Parents with Mr Ferry about seesaw and how to support your child at home.

There should be more written homework and we miss the end of term projects.

Please refer to our home learning policy: Winton Primary Home Learning Policy.

All pupils in Year 2 to Year 6 are also given a ‘Workabook’ for English and Mathematics to complete written activities which can then be uploaded to seesaw.

Recently we have had two home projects:

  • Road Safety Poster Campaign
  • UNICEF Illustrated Holiday Competition

At the start of the pandemic we were advised to not have additional objects brought in from home so adapted our home learning policy, we will review this as a staff team this term.

The behaviour of some children is challenging

At Winton we have very high expectations for all children, we focus on supporting all pupils and are determined every child will succeed.  However, like all schools sometimes we have children who are experiencing ongoing difficulties.  We operate dynamically and as a team utilise our skills and expertise to provide additional support.  We work closely with individual parents to address concerns and support the young person to achieve their best.

We are currently reviewing our behaviour policy and will be sharing our updated policy at the end of the month.

There should be more interactive coffee mornings which are set for a certain day.

Due to the pandemic we have had to limit our parent coffee mornings due to restrictions.  Winton Friends have continued to hold regular coffee meetings throughout the pandemic, every parent is a member of Winton Friends and we look forward to seeing you there.

I was late to pick up my child and they were waiting by the school office. I found this upsetting and think there should be a grace period.

Very few parents are late to pick up their child, however if you are late to pick up your child they will be at the school office because our staff have additional duties after school and many have their own children to collect.

Thank you for the heart-warming comments made in the survey, they make a huge difference to the Winton team.  Here are two that we would like to share:

‘My children love and look forward to going to school every day.’

‘Thank you for all your amazing work during all these years, it has been such a great journey. We’ve always enjoyed all the plays at the end of the year or term and we’ve always felt comfortable and welcome by all the staff. The strongest point with Winton is that it really seems that all the focus is on the children, on who they are and where they are in their development and what they need to continue. You’ve created an environment where they could form warm genuine relations not only among themselves but with the staff as well. Academically it seems like a school that doesn’t push for extraordinary results and yet the results are often extraordinary. The process of learning seems steady and comfortable and my son did amazing progress at this school. A suggestion would be to push more towards music and swimming lessons. It seemed like the only subjects that lacked from the schedule, and the weeks of intensive swimming did have very positive effects. A special thanks to all the effort put into teaching and pushing the school to open during the pandemic. The first lockdown was terrifying but we felt no fear coming from the school nor during the lockdown nor when it opened up very early on. The communication was always clear towards what is required and expected to keep everyone safe. It must be quite a task to be responsible for so many children at an age when they’re still so vulnerable and you’ve done it to such a high standard. We are very fortunate to have been part of your educational system and we’re seeing Winton as a small intimate neighbourhood gem with open minded, warm and dedicated staff and teachers and consider ourselves fortunate to be part of it all these years.’
